Jose Mourinho admitted the diagnosis does not look good for Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marcos Rojo, after they were forced off with injuries in Manchester United’s Europa League quarter-final win over Anderlecht.
Rojo was carried off in the first half on a stretcher while Ibrahimovic hobbled off late in the game after landing awkwardly following an aerial challenge.
United’s top scorer looked to have hyper-extended his knee and was in agony on the floor before he managed to make his way off the pitch.
Manchester United eventually won 2-1 in extra-time to advance to the semi-finals with a 3-2 aggregate victory.
But asked about the injuries, Mourinho said: “I want to wait but my feeling is not good for both. I want to wait, and want to try to be optimistic, but I’m not.”
The Manchester United manager said the severity of the injuries is likely to be known in “a couple days”.
