A 22-year-old man, Kehinde Ahmed, who allegedly
stole aluminium roofing sheets valued N420, 000, was on Wednesday brought
before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun.
Ahmed, whose address was not stated, is facing a
two-count charge of stealing and conspiracy.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Chudu Gbesi, told the court
that the accused and others still at large, committed the offences on March 16
at about 3.40 p.m at Ogun State Housing Corporation, Ota.
Gbesi said that the accused and his accomplices
conspired to steal aluminium roofing sheets valued N420, 000 belonging to
Kolawole Adelekan.
The prosecutor said that the accused was caught
committing the crime and was handed over to the police.
He said that the offences contravened Sections
390(9) and 516 of Criminal Code Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the
charges.
The Senior Magistrate, Mr S.O. Banwo, admitted the
accused to bail of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Banwo said that the sureties must be residing within
the court’s jurisdiction and should be gainfully employed.
He also said that the sureties should swear to an
affidavit of means and produce evidence of tax payment to Ogun Government.
The senior magistrate adjourned the case to April 20
for hearing.
