Argentina captain, Lionel Messi, is set to appeal his four-match ban handed to him by FIFA, for allegedly insulting a match official during their 2018 World Cup qualifier against Chile in March.
In addition to the suspension, Messi was fined 10,000 Swiss Francs (£8,111).
Messi was reported to the world football governing body, over a foul-mouthed outburst at an assistant referee during the 1-0 win.
The Barcelona forward was caught on camera verbally abusing the official, reportedly saying: “f*** off, the c*** of your mother.”
The 29-year-old has already served one match of the ban and will now testify via video link, in a bid to get the rest of the ban overturned. A verdict is expected by the end of month.
Argentina’s next World Cup qualifier against Uruguay will be played August 31.
